About Us
Beth Jacob Synagogue has welcomed Jews in central Vermont for more than a century. Today roughly 110 families from all over our region are members. We are an inclusive congregation: we welcome young, old, newcomers, oldtimers, singles, families, and LGBTQ individuals. Our community is unaffiliated with any formal Jewish movement and includes people who are observant and those who are just rediscovering their Jewish heritage. We offer activities for people of all ages, including holiday celebrations, musical performances, films, book discussions, speakers, meditation, and social action. Beth Jacob is a lay-led congregation with spirtiual leadership provided by members of our congregation, rabbis in our community, and occasional visiting rabbis. We provide weekly Shabbat services (either Friday or Saturday) led by members of our community in a variety of styles. We also run a Sunday morning Hebrew School and a monthly teen youth group. Everything happens in our new, light-filled building in a residential neighborhood in Montpelier.
